This interactive lesson is designed for Stage 2 ESL learners (ages 8–9). The theme Sport and Hobbies expands students’ vocabulary for both active sports and leisure activities, while also introducing grammar structures to ask and answer about abilities (Can you? Yes, I can. / No, I can’t.). Learners practice speaking in full sentences, interview-style dialogues, and interactive games that reinforce both fluency and accuracy.
The lesson integrates vocabulary (swim, dance, bike, read, game, toys, cards, chess), grammar (Can you…?), phonics (/g/ sound), tricky words (play, good), and a variety of fun, high-energy games. Students move step by step from identifying words, to making choices, to building longer answers, ending with a celebratory wrap-up activity.
Whack-a-mole game where students hit only toy or hobby words to activate vocabulary and focus.
Core words: swim, dance, bike, read, game, toys, cards, chess.
Practice includes matching words to pictures, saying them in funny voices, and interactive games (Flying Fruit, Knots and Crosses, wordsearch).
Students answer using full sentences to build fluency and confidence.
70 lessons per stage, kids learning paths, per-child progress tracking and the full adult library.
