This engaging, fully interactive lesson is designed for young elementary ESL learners (Stage 2, ages 8–9). The theme Furniture and Prepositions builds on Stage 1 learning by expanding students’ vocabulary about household items and deepening their understanding of prepositions and sentence building. Students learn to describe furniture and where it is located using full, descriptive sentences.

The lesson blends vocabulary development, grammar practice, phonics (/x/ sound), and tricky-word recognition, along with movement games and speaking challenges. The structured sequence—from warm-up to grammar to games and review—ensures learners can both comprehend and produce the target language naturally and confidently.

New words: desk, shelf, mirror, cupboard, clock, carpet, pillow, drawer.

Students use image clues and sentence prompts to guess the correct furniture item and practise saying complete sentences (e.g., I do my homework at my desk. / The books are on the shelf.).
