This engaging Stage 2 lesson (ages 8–9) develops magic-themed vocabulary while introducing the Present Continuous tense (is + verb-ing) for describing actions happening now. Students practise forming sentences such as “The wizard is looking in the crystal ball.” and “She is stirring the potion.”
The lesson also focuses on the /qu/ phonics sound with the words queen, quick, quiz, and quiet, helping learners improve pronunciation and recognise common sound patterns. Through interactive games, speaking activities, sentence-building tasks, and movement challenges, students progress from recognising vocabulary to confidently describing ongoing actions using full sentences.
