This fun, action-packed lesson is designed for elementary ESL learners (Stage 2, ages 8–9). The theme At the Playground helps students talk about activities happening now while practising the present continuous form I am + verb-ing.
The lesson combines vocabulary development, grammar practice, phonics focus (/ou/ sound), speaking fluency, movement games, and creative sentence-building activities. Students describe playground actions using full sentences in meaningful, engaging contexts.
Activities are highly visual, interactive, and suitable for 1:1 lessons or small groups, online or offline. Learning is scaffolded from recognising action phrases to confidently producing full present-continuous sentences, ending with a fun review game.
Key phrases: play tag, play hopscotch, play hide and seek, skip rope, throw a ball, kick a ball, catch a ball, push the swing
Students practise vocabulary through true/false games, hangman, alphabet races, sorting activities, and speaking tasks.
Students practise choosing correct verbs, forming sentences, and describing actions happening now through gameshow quizzes and guided speaking.
70 lessons per stage, kids learning paths, per-child progress tracking and the full adult library.
