This engaging Stage 3 lesson (ages 9–10) develops holiday and adventure vocabulary while introducing the Past Simple tense in both positive and negative forms to talk about completed experiences and past events. Students practise forming sentences such as “We rode a roller coaster last summer.” and “We didn't ride a roller coaster last summer.”

The lesson also focuses on suffix phonics patterns with the words enjoyment, excitement, embarrassment, and disappointment, helping learners understand how the suffix -ment changes word meanings while improving pronunciation and vocabulary awareness. Through speaking activities, memory games, movement challenges, riddles, and creative sentence-building tasks, students build confidence using full sentences to describe holiday experiences and things they did or did not do in the past.
