This lively, fully interactive lesson is designed for elementary ESL learners (Stage 3, ages 9-10). The theme Farm Market introduces students to eight new vocabulary words related to food origins and food travel, and teaches them to use the grammar pattern “It comes from …” to describe where foods originate (e.g., “Milk comes from cows.” / “Juice comes from fruit.”).

Phonics practice focuses on the /ui/ sound using the words fruit, juice, suit, and suitcase, and learners also work with the tricky words early and food to strengthen reading fluency.

The lesson blends vocabulary building, grammar sequencing, phonics development, movement activities and a variety of games. Activities are short, visual and highly interactive—ideal for 1-to-1 or small-group online classes. The learning sequence moves from warm-up → vocabulary → speaking → grammar → movement → phonics → games → review celebration.

Students choose an I spy sentence, look at a large picture, and read the sentence aloud while classmates guess the correct object.

This activates descriptive language and engages students from the first minute.
