This interactive lesson introduces young beginner ESL learners (Stage 1, ages 7–8) to food vocabulary and expressing preferences. The theme Food and Likes helps children practice identifying common foods, saying what they eat and drink, and using the grammar structure I like… / I don’t like….
The lesson integrates vocabulary building, grammar, phonics (/b/ sound), and a variety of speaking, listening, and movement activities. Learners practice comprehension through fun “true or false” and “odd one out” games, and they build confidence using short sentences about their likes and dislikes.
Activities are short, visual, and playful—ideal for both online and in-person lessons. The flow moves from single words to full sentences and ends with an exciting quiz-style review.
Core words: bread, milk, apple, egg, cake, tea.
Students listen, repeat, clap rhythms with sentences, and review words in silly or creative voices (robot, whisper, monster, baby).
Students practice thumbs up/down actions while making sentences, and play a timed challenge saying sentences three times in 10 seconds.
70 lessons per stage, kids learning paths, per-child progress tracking and the full adult library.
